WHAT
a re-design for an urban region including public space in Osdorp, Amsterdam
RESEARCH
For this project we had to re-design an urban region in Osdorp, Amsterdam. For my plan I used the whole plot, arranging the buildings around the edges of the plot creating a public space in the middle of the plot. My idea was to create a community within the plot, which is visible in the design of the building and the floorplans of the building and the appartments. All of the apartments are focussed on the public space.
RESEARCH
The balconies are facing the space and the floorplans are created so the living area is focussed on the public space. Always being able to look out over the public space gives residents a sense of safety and a sense of community. Also I tried to make a connection with the rest of the neighbourhood. I made cut-outs of the plot to break through the buildings and the public space.
